about
One of the first Holy Hip Hop/Christian Rap songs I ever wrote. This song is based on my favorite gospel Luke, taken from chapter 12, where Jesus says "There is nothing concealed that will note be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs".
lyrics
They're being cynical, critical, & it's so typical
But there's nothing spiritual about the wicked material
And it's real serial how we treat the menial
Serious and I'm weary cuz we focus on the meaningless
And it's petty, yet steady ready to jump
When for a second I reckon the moment heats up
Like a bull we see red and bump heads
And our patience is tested, our pride is effected
Been disrespected, but we forget before Christ resurrected
That he was dejected, subjected to pain by men who were elected
By men who expected to live in sin without any consequences
And hence then it's said that the guilty will perish
So let us pause and cherish the gifts that we inherit
In the daylight, in the daylight
What you have said in the dark will be heard where
In the daylight, in the daylight
What you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs yea
In the daylight, in the daylight
What you have said in the dark will be heard where
In the daylight, in the daylight
Just so hypocritical, everything is political
It's a miracle that we still haven't hit the pinnacle
The triggers us, it figures such, the messages are subliminal
Once a saint now you've become a criminal
It's pivotal you rescue us, down on my knees I'm looking up
Father God in You I trust, keep me from temptation, lust
Because I fell way more than once, it wasn't enough
No, and I shoulda been done, and the one from above mercied me with his love
Like the dove from the flood, and the blood from His son
He'll never leave or forsake us, it's the battle we've won
The enemy we have overcome where
They stunting, fronting, no loving, turning nothing to something
Holding grudges, so stubborn
These curmudgeons are running a life of judging another
Cross the line, no you stutter, and stumble and mumble
And wonder why it was prophesied brother versus brother
And son versus mother
Man betrays the one whom God sent to save us
All in His perfect time he said stand by my side
Those who are without sin, but the crowd stayed silent
No go and leave your sinful life
What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight
There is no one perfect in God's sight
No not even one can call themselves righteous
